Tecate, Mexico is located across the border, about an hour from San Diego. We built a large playground in Encinos Park, the largest park in Tecate. Many different organizations and churches came together for the children of Tecate including the MDRT Foundation, Springbrook Community Church of Huntley, IL, the Tecate government and BGC Missionaries. AWANA had programs for the kids watching us build. At night our team evangelized along with local churches at the playground. Jim Rosene led flannelgraph training in the city with over 20 churches being represented. Several leaders from Tecate and Baja, California came to the dedication. They all spoke of the need for parks like this and more importantly, the need for everyone to invest their time in their children and community. You could also tell that the church we worked with was lifted up in the eyes of the government. We hope the relationship between the two will continue to grow and bless the kids of Tecate.
