We were invited by CERT, to conduct a Sunday School Training. This training coincided with their medical, vision and dental clinics which attracts hundreds of people from in and around the east Mexicali Villages. The local churches that CERT works with to provide the medical help, have no formal Sunday School training and virtually no material to work with. This training was a huge blessing as they now have a platform to teach and disciple their children.
There were 47 people at the training from 8 churches including all 8 their senior pastors. They were a very excited group that would “ooh” and “aah” at every opportunity. To make the training a little more efficient I asked them to take the material home and cut out 2 lessons in preparation for the next day. To my surprise, several of them cut out all 180 figures that evening! During the final exam they had a chance to show us what they had learned. They all passed with flying colors and were actually quite impressive in their creativity and delivery.
After the training many of the pastors told us how much they appreciated the training and wondered when we’d come back to train more. They knew how valuable education and material are in ministering to kids and discipling them. We hope to go back in the very near future to continue to educate and equip our new friends in Mexicali.
