Kids Around The World began its playground outreach in Ukraine. It has been a long time since we conducted our training seminar, in fact we have never distributed our JESUS Film Flannelgraphs in Ukraine, so today would be a first!  We were blessed to partner with the Ukrainian Center of Christian Cooperation, under the leadership of Victor Kulbich and to use the facilities of Central Baptist Church in Kiev.  As the participants were arriving we were told there would be representation from at least 20 of the 25 Oblasts (States) of Ukraine and many of these workers oversee a larger team that reaches far into the cities and villages of Ukraine and impact more than 3,000 Churches!

One of the young ladies told my wife, Denise she traveled 14 hours by train to come to the seminar, arriving just in time. She then departed as soon as the seminar was finished. Another leader shared this is the first time she has ever been to any Children’s seminar and she was thrilled to have the new knowledge of teaching the Bible and her own JESUS Film Flannelgraph set.  A special surprise for the participants was the gift Campus Crusade for Christ presented to each one of them, a copy of The Story of JESUS for Children, the children’s version of The JESUS Film. We are grateful to The JESUS Film for their generosity!  Now the teachers can show the movie and then teach 46 lessons using the flannelgraphs. All were encouraged and blessed!

Please continue to pray as we work with UCCC and other organizations to develop a strategy that will reach all 3,000 Baptist Churches of Ukraine!!

It has been an exciting week in Brovary, Ukraine, the site of Playgrounds #1 and #2!  The youth group from First Free Church in Rockford traveled with us to share a week of Day Camp with the children of this community.  This was the first year Brovary Baptist Church conducted a camp in the parks and it was a great success.  The camps averaged nearly 75 children at each one, plus the many parents and grandparents who came to see what was going on.   We truly appreciate the prayers and support of our family and friends, it has been great! 

During dinner one night we asked Sofia, Pastor Anatoly’s wife, to share with the team.  As she began, tears flowed down her face….she was so overwhelmed with joy.  She shared of years gone by when so much of what they did as a church had to be hidden from authorities, especially anything they did with children.  Now, this past week we conducted a Bible camp in the largest park of Brovary across the street from the government offices and we had permission to do this!  One afternoon it rained so hard we had to move the camp into a school.  Can you imagine singing songs, telling Bible stories and sharing God’s message to the children in the school?!  In the past 15 years so much has changed for these people and yet they face many new challenges.  Please pray with us as we continue our work in Brovary!

Day 1

The High School team from Rockford First Free Church arrived in Brovary, Ukraine Sunday afternoon and began its outreach program Monday morning in the shadows of our 1st playground!  Some of you may remember we built the 1st playground in Brovary in 1994 and now 15 years later we are building into the lives of the children in this city once again.  On Monday morning we had 75 children come to the park for games, Bible stories using the JESUS Film flannelgraphs along with puppets and crafts. It was an exciting time for all the children who attended the 1st day.  The team will be here all week doing 2 programs; one in the park and one near a school...a potential new site for a church!  Please pray for the team of 21 people.
