Zambia Day 2

Today we woke up to torrential downpours again.  The locals say it never rains like this.  As we were driving to the site, we were all a little discouraged to see the amount of rain that was falling.  We kept on going though and once we started to work, the rain stopped.  The playground went together really well as the team worked hard and efficiently.  The kids working with us especially enjoyed it since it was so muddy!

While we were building it, the preschool children came out of class to take a look at their new playground.  They were so excited to see it standing in the ground, almost waiting fo them to play on it.   Their preschool classroom looks right onto the playground, so I am sure they will have plenty of chances to enjoy it.

In the afternoon, the team conducted their soccer camp again.  They had over 100 kids and did different games and songs with them again. It was a great way to conclude a successful day. Since the playground is completely installed and the cement has been poured, we are just waiting on the sand to finish it.  Thanks for your prayers and support of us on this project.

Zambia Day 1

We are back in Zambia at the Seeds of Hope Orphanage building a small playground for kids ages 2-5. These kids all have HIV/AIDS and this playground will give them a tremendous amount of happiness as they continue to get healthy. The playground was donated by a family that is here with us building the playground.

We started today and it was raining nonstop. The rainy season has almost come to an end but not quite yet. The rain has definitely put a damper on our work but we got out there anyways and got a lot done.  The little playground is almost assembled and tomorrow we will attempt to dig the holes.

In the afternoon the team conducted a soccer camp for the orphans and for kids in the outlying compounds. There was a great showing today and lots of laughter. They had music and a little message along with teaching the kids soccer skills. Afterwards everyone just played a huge game of "chase"...or something like it.

Thanks for your support for us. We are all doing well and enjoying our time working for the kids of Zambia.
